REPÜLŐMÚZEUM SZOLNOK
VEB IL-14P
legizgalmasabb típus a Múzeumban. Életem első játékrepülője volt,
4-5
éves koromban kaptam, a hatvanas évek legelején. A Lemezárugyár remeke
volt, lendkerekes hajtással,
a légcsavarokat spirálrugóból készült
hajlékony tengely forgatta, ha toltam a gépet.
A lajstromjele HA-MAB
(HS)
This airplane is dear to me, even
if it isn't the most exciting type at the museum. It was the first toy
airplane I ever had, I got it at the beginning of the 1960s, I was
around 4 or 5. It was one of the wonders of the Sheet Metal Products
Factory, with a flywheel drive;
when I pushed the airplane on the ground, the flywheel span the spiral
springs of the propellers. The registration on the airplane was HA-MAB.
(How the devil does one remember such things?) (SH)

A Malév első
igazi nemzetközi repülésre alkalmas gépei is ilyen típusúak
voltak. A Néphadseregnek is voltak ilyen gépei, szám szerint
2.
Malev's first type truly
capable of international flight was this one. The People's
Military had such aircraft as well, a total of two. I saw
them flying above Szolnok, and I read about a
record-breaking attempt in which paratroops from Szolnok
jumped out of it from high altitude, about 7000 m. |
|
Ez a gép velem
egyidős. Mindketten igyekszünk méltósággal viselni
korunkat...
This plane is the same
age as I am. We both try to carry our age with dignity... |
|
Hogy el ne maradjon: egy totálkép,
a nagy fesztávolságú szárnyakkal együtt.
So that it isn't
missed: a complete picture, including the wings and their
long span.
|
|
Most pedig kalandra fel!
Körüljárjuk a gépet, sőt, be is
megyünk! Negyven kép következik.
A elülső tehertér (merthogy van egy
hátulsó is) ajtaja.
Érdekesség: a légcsavarok
forgássíkjánál a törzsburkolatot megerősítették, a forgó
légcsavarról leváló jégdarabok elviselésére.
And now it's
time for adventure! We'll walk around the airplane, and go
inside,
too! Forty pictures follow.
The door to the forward cargo space (there's an after one,
too).
Interesting: the fuselage has been "armoured" in line with
the airscrews, to protect it from ice flying off the blades.
|
|
A jobb motor gondolája. Az amúgy marha
nagy AS-82 motor csak az elejét tölti ki.
The nacelle of the
port engine.
The otherwise quite
large AS-82 engine only fills the front of it.
|
|
Valamiért nekem ez szívdobogtató
látvány. Erőt, határozottságot és lendületet sugároz. A
festést pedig felejtsük el...
For some reason this
is a heart-pounding sight for me. It radiates power,
decisiveness and motion. Just forget about the paint.
|
|
A jobb gondola kívülről. A motor a
The port nacelle from
outside. The engine sits in front of the cooling slats. At
the bottom is the oil sump, back from that the oil reservoir
and such, further back the wheel well.
|
|
A jobb futóakna alulról. A kormány-
és motorvezérlő huzalok, üzemanyag- és hidraulika vezetékek
kavalkádja.
Looking up into the
port wheel well. A cavalcade of hydraulic lines, fuel lines,
and control lines.
|
|
A jobb gondola hátulja a kipufogó
PeCsa-béli AS-82 motor kipufogóját: a motorból két cső jön
ki, a szárnyban lévő hőcserélő rendszerben lesz belőlük
valahogyan három. (A hőcserélők a kabinfűtéshez, a szélvédők
és a szárny-belépőélek jégtelenítéséhez
szolgáltatnak forró levegőt.)
The port
nacelle's backside with exhaust pipes. Look at the entry for
the AS-82
engine at the Petöfi Csarnok in the "Powerplants, Engines"
section: two pipes lead out of the engine; somehow this
becomes three after the heat exchanger in the wing. (The
heat
exchanger delivered hot air for cabin heating and for
deicing the wings and
windshields.) |
|
Jobb "hónalj" nézet, egy dekoratív
pozíció. Jól látszik, milyen fontos a szárnytő áramvonalas
kialakítása, legalábbis itt nagy gondot fordítottak rá.
Left "armpit" view, a
decorative position. It's clear how important the
aerodynamics of the wing-fuselage junction is, at least,
they put considerable thought into it in this case.
|
|
Felségjelek és számok kavalkádja.
Többféle festés is felismerhető.
Zsaludek Endre vetette fel: jó
lenne az egykori kormánygép mintájára festeni. Az biztos
hogy egy ékköve lehetne a Múzeumnak !
A négyes számjegy előtt a hátsó
faroktérbe engedi be a fényt.
A parade of
insignia and numbers. Several paint schemes are recognisable
as well.
Endre Zsaludek mentioned that it would be a good idea to
paint it into the colours
of the former government airplane. That would definitely be
one of the museum's jewels!
In front of the number "4" is the door to the rear cargo
space, and behind the "6"
is a small window to illuminate the space inside the
tail section.
|
|
A jellegzetes Il-14 függőleges
forma.
A farok alatti támaszra még
visszatérünk!
The
distinctive Il-14 vertical stabiliser. Somehow, it contains
the "charm" of
Soviet technology. The vertical stabiliser was enlarged from
that of the predecessor Il-12 to allow for single-engine
operation, which is how this form came about.
We'll get back to the support under the tail!
|
|
Az utastér ajtaja. Mögötte, a
felségjel(ek) falszomszédja a fedélzeti reterát. Az alatta lévő
csutka valószínűleg a budi elvezetője. A hatos szám
előtt egy elszívó nyílás, itt a belső oldalon
műszer-rekeszek vannak.
The door to the
passenger cabin. Behind it, the insignia(s) and the side
number. The little pipe underneath is probably the toilet
vent. Before the "6" is a vent intake, there are
instrumentation shelves on the inside at this spot.
|
|
Innen is jól mutat!
Looks good from here,
too!
|
|
A szárnyvég a statikus töltés-
elvezetőkkel és a helyzetfénnyel.
A csűrőlap balra becsűrve.
akkor a kormányszarvak is mozdulnak a fülkében, innen nézve
éppen látható is. A kormányokat kézi erővel mozgatták,
rásegítő nélkül.
The wingtip
with the static charge discharge lead and marker light. The
aileron is dropped for a left turn. It can be (but is not
permitted to be!) moved by hand, and when you do this,
the control sticks in the cockpit move as well, and looking
from here, you can just see it. The control columns were
moved by hand without hydraulic assistance.
|
|
A jobb motor gondolája. Ne mondd,
hogy nem szép!
The starboard nacelle.
Don't tell me it's not nice! |
|
Szemből impozáns látvány a 3.8 m
átmérőjű légcsavar. Ő adta át a levegőnek a motor max. 1900
LE (felszálláskor) teljesítményét.
From straight on the
airscrew, with its 3.8 m diameter, is an imposing sight.
This delivered the engine's 1900 HP (at takeoff) to the air.
|
|
I didn't resist taking
a closeup. Under the drive box we can see the forward (there
was one at the back, too) oil pump.
|
|
Jegesedés jelző a másodpilóta
ablakánál.
Icing indicator at the
copilot's window.
|
|
A kétágú Pitot-cső, előtte antenna
(saját-ellenség jeladó). A törzs bal alsó oldalán pedig nem
személyzeti fehérnemű-szárító, hanem antenna (méretei
alapján RH antenna lehet).
The forked pitot tube,
an IFF antenna in front of it. The line running along the
left bottom of the fuselage isn't for hanging the
crew's laundry out to dry, it's an
antenna (to judge from the dimensions, probably an HF
antenna).
|
|
A pilótafülke mögött ezen az
oldalon a rádió-távírász ül, az ő ablaka feletti
levegőztető nyílás alighanem a készülékek hűtésére szolgál.
Az első utastér-ablak alatt
feltehetően a kabinszellőzés frisslevegő-bemenete.
Előtte a túloldalról már ismert
védőlemez.
Behind the
flight deck, on this side, sits the radiotelegrapher; the
vent above
his seat serves to cool his equipment. Underneath the first
of the passenger windows is a fresh air vent for the
passenger compartment. On this side, too, there is a piece
ofarmour to protect from flying ice. |
|
Arca van, Te is láthatod. 2006.
A pilótakabin felett is
antenna-tenyészet.
A leginkább autentikus a felül
alkották, hanem iparművészeket is bevontak a tervezésbe.
A "műalkotás" mögött a
csillagászati navigációt szolgáló ablak.
She has a
face, you can see it, too. (Translator's note: there's a
political
commentary here that I don't really understand, not living
in Hungary, so I won't try and translate it; it probably
would make little sense in English, anyways).
Above the cockpit is another nest of antennae. The one in
the middle seems to have had not only engineers but artists
involved in its design. Behind the "art installation" is the
window used for astronomical navigation.
(hozzaadasom zarojelben: it valamilyen politikai kommentar
megis.)
Kedver Frank (Feri):
szerencsés vagy hogy nem kell értened ! (hs)
|
|
Belesünk az ablakon: a két fehér
izé a jobb alsó ablakban a két szarvkormány jobb oldala
(balra koppig be vannak csűrve).
Peeking in the window:
the two white things at the bottom are the right sides of
the two control wheels (they're turned completely to the
left).
|
|
Beléptünk az utasajtón. Jobbra
nézve az utaskabin, ami az elülső raktér (polgári
utasszállító esetén a konyha) rekeszfalával végződik.
Ez katonai szállítógép, lehajtható
deszant-ülésekkel.
Ennél a pár katonánál jóval több
terhet bír el a gép, a polgári változat maximálisan 5170 kg
hasznos terhet szállíthatott. A katonai változat esetében
feltehetően többet engedélyeztek. Egy katonaruhás látogató csoport
nyomán jutottam be ide.
We've stepped
through the passenger door. Looking to the right we see the
passenger compartment, which ends at the wall of the forward
cargo space (this, in the civilian variants, was a galley).
The plane can carry a lot more than the few soldiers that
get seats here; the civilian variant could carry 5170 kg of
useful payload. The military variant was allowed more.
I came inside
following a group of visitors in military uniform.
|
|
A gép hátulja felé nézünk:
az előbb a bal oldali nyitott
utasajtó előtt álltunk. Utasszállító változat esetén
egy gardrób-részbe léptünk be, csak azután következett az
utastér. A nyitott ajtó a hátsó tehertérbe vezet. Az utasajtó
takarásában a WC ajtaja.
Looking towards the
rear of the plane: earlier, we were standing by that open
door. If it had been a civilian variant, we'd have stepped
into the coat rack area; the passenger compartment followed
that. The open door on the back wall leads to the after
cargo space.
The open door to the outside hides the door to the lavatory.
|
|
A hátsó tehertérben ideiglenesen
tárolt műszereken átesve a faroktér ajtajához érünk.
Stumbling over the
instruments temporarily stored in the rear cargo space we
reach the door to the tail space. |
|
Na, ez egy csoda hely! A képen
balra műszer-rekeszek, középen kormányhuzalok.
A két alsó hengerről először az
hittem, hogy kibocsátható teleszkóp lábak, ami a gép
"fenékre ülését" gátolták meg extrém terhelési helyzetben
(pl. amikor az utasok a kiszálláskor az ajtó előtt
tolongtak).
Azonban gép alja felől megnézve a
Well, this is
a marvellous place! To the left of the picture are shelves
for instruments, in the middle, control lines.
At first I thought the two cylinders at the bottom were
telescoping legs to help prevent the plane from sitting on
its rear during extreme loading (such as when passengers are
pushing and shoving trying to deplane). You'll see many
photos of Il-14s supported thusly, as this was one of their
weak points.
But if you look at the outside of the plane, above the
openings are inscriptions in
German saying "paradrop illumination device holder." If I
understand correctly, this were something like Stalin's
Candle.
|
|
A kormányvezérlő huzalok és csigák.
Az átmenő vízszintes vezérsík felületén madarak termelte
kosz.
The control lines and
their pulleys. On the surface of the platform connecting the
horizontal stabilisers is dirt left by birds.
|
|
If it were clean and in
good shape, it would look like this. There seems to be a
jumpseat on the right, though I doubt it would have been
used in flight.
I got this photo off the net somewhere, though
I'membarrassed to say that I can't
remember where, as I should give credit to the source.
Bal alul a PO-1500 elsődleges unformer és
a tartalék. Leírás lejjebb.
A zöld cső a stabilizátor jégtelenítő rendszeréhez vitte a
meleg levegőt. A

megtestesítője, a fedélzeti klozett.
Here we can see the
embodiment of comfort, the lavatory. It even has a window !
The wash basin is to the left and is hidden from view, but
to compensate, we can see a door leading to the tail section,
whose purpose is a mystery. Personally, I'd store the paper
there, but curiosity is killing me as to its original
function. Perhaps it served as a vent during "minelaying"
operations?
|
|
Az utastér elülső válaszfala után
vagyunk. Ez is tehertér, polgári utasszállító változatnál
konyha.
We're now inside the
forward cargo space, which would have been the galley in a
civilian variant. |
|
Egy rekesszel előbb jöttünk. Ez a
jobb oldal, többféle tartállyal. Bizony, nem tudom mire
szolgálnak!
Remélem lesz aki kisegít!
Lett is, Surman Zsolt személyében:
"A felső nagy szürke tartály egy
hidraulika tartály, ez egy nyomásálló edény és ebben
tárolják a rendszerekhez szükséges olajmennyiséget.
A légcsavarok belépő éleinek jégtelenítését
szolgáló alkoholt tárolják benne. A ferihegyi emlékparkban
felderítőgépen is szürke."
A few steps
forward we find these tanks on the right side. Yep, I don't
know what
they're for! I hope there will be someone to help clarify.
There was, too, in the person of Zsolt Surman: "The big
grey tank above is a hydraulic reservoir, this is a
pressureproof container holding the fluid required for the
systems. Below it, the copper tank (which is white in the
picture) is an alcohol tank. Thealcohol was used for deicing
the leading edges of the propeller blades. The one in the
plane displayed at the display park at Ferihegy [Airport] is
copper coloured; the upper one was grey on the Soviet recce
variants, too."
|
|
Kicsit jobbra fordultunk, a sárga
csíkos palack rajta van a fenti képen is.
Ez itt a fedélzeti
tűzoltó-berendezés, szerintem gázzal működött (bizonyára széndioxiddal).
Turning a little to
the right, the yellow-striped container is visible on the
photo above, too. This is the onboard fire suppression
system, I think it worked with gas
(probably carbon dioxide). |
|
A tartályokkal szemben elektronikus
műszerek rekeszei. De jó lenne tudni a műszerek
rendeltetését! Meg a faroktérben levőkét is!
Shelves of electronics
sit across from the tanks. But it'd be good to know what
hey're for, same with those in the back!
Jobb oldalon a két egyforma doboz a

a hajózó-szerelőé.
Ez is orzott kép. Biztosan
gyártmányú Il-14 M-ben készült, ami a mi
gépünknek unokatesója.
A képet azért kellett idelopni,
mert a mi navigátor-munkahelyünk műszerei le vannak
szerelve.
A little
further forward: to the left is the navigator's workspace;
according to
some literature, the technician worked here.
This is a stolen picture, too. You probably noticed that on
our airplane, there's a
square window here, but the one in this picture is round.
The reason: ours is a VEB Il-14P made in East Germany,
whereas the one in this photo, based on the round window, is
a Soviet-made
Il-14M, which is our airplane's cousin.
I had to use this stolen picture here, because the
navigator's station is missing its equipment in our plane.
|
|
Felfelé nézünk: a "plafonon" a
csillagászati navigációt lehetővé tévő ablak.
Looking up: this
window on the "ceiling" allows astronomical navigation.
...és egyben vészkijárat is.

A fedélzeti rádió-távírász munkahelye.
antenna-kivezetőinél kilátszik a csupasz fém. Jó kis égési
sérüléseket lehet itt szerezni.
The radiotelegrapher's
workstation. It was used for Morse, too - don't forget, this
plane will be 50 in December.
At the porcelain antenna leads you can see the plain metal.
You can get nice little burns here.
A három egyforma műszer (felül 2 és
jobb alul) a rádiókompasz (ARK-5)
vezérlői. Ezekről lehetett kirakni a három rádióiránytű
műszerre a jelet.
oroszoknak a technológiát. Ilyennel voltak felszerelve a
is.

The three identical instruments (2 on the top and bottom
right) the controllers of the radio compass (ARK-5).
These were for putting the signal out on the three radio
compasses. On the bottom the USZ-9 communications receiver,
it could be remotely controlled by the pilots too.
It is the same as the American BC348, as the technology was
sold to the russians. These were fitted to most WWII
aircraft, as well
as Enola Gay.

A fenti kommentárok írásakor egyik
jegyzett, a nyolcvanas években kiadott Il-14 típusfüzetén
volt. Köszönettel tartozom az onnan szerzett információkért.
A kiadványt és Li-2, MiG-15, Il-18
és Tu-154 típusokat ismertető testvéreit ajánlom
figyelmedbe, a márciusi Makettkiállításon még több árusnál
láttam mindegyiket!
In preparing the above
commentaries I had one eye on the pictures, the other on the
type monograph prepared by Endre Zsaludek and his team in
the 1980s. I owe thanks for the information gleaned from
there.
I would recommend the editions covering the Li-2, MiG-15,
Il-18 and Tu-154 as well, which can often be found at
modelling meets (in Hungary).
